THE FOUNDER

Chirag Dhorda

Business coach. Consultant. Corporate trainer.
Entrepreneur. Founder of Nexventure.

For more than 15 years, I have worked with business owners and their teams, helping them sell better, solve problems and build businesses that run with less dependence on the owner.

Nexventure grew out of that work, the businesses I built myself, and the questions I asked when I started looking for a business to buy.

BUSINESS COACHING, CONSULTING & TRAINING

My work started inside businesses.

For 14 years, I ran my own business coaching, consulting and corporate training practice.

I worked with more than 50 companies across automotive, retail, manufacturing, finance and insurance. Sometimes I was there to train a team. Sometimes I stepped in as a project manager, sales head or technology lead. I worked with the owner and the team to get things done.

I spent a lot of time asking questions. Why were sales getting stuck? Why did the team keep going back to the owner? Why was everyone working so hard, yet the same problems kept coming back?

Then we worked on it together. We improved sales processes, clarified responsibilities, introduced software and automation, and trained people to take ownership of their work. Over those years, I trained more than 5,000 employees and 50 business owners.

You can write a good plan in a meeting. Getting people to use it on a busy Monday morning is where the real work begins.

COACHING & EXECUTION

The conversation often started with sales. It rarely ended there.

An owner would bring me in to work on sales. Once we started talking, we would find that follow-up was inconsistent, responsibilities were unclear, or every decision still needed the owner’s approval.

These were hardworking people building real businesses. They knew their customers and cared about their teams. But they were carrying too much themselves. I understood why. When it is your business, handing over responsibility is a big step.

My role as a business coach was to help them see where things were getting stuck, decide what needed to change and work through those changes with their teams.

That experience is a big part of Nexventure. I look beyond revenue and profit because I have seen the work behind those numbers: the people, the processes and the owner holding it all together.

THE LESSON I HAD TO APPLY MYSELF

I taught delegation.
Then I confronted my own dependence.

Here is the part that was difficult to admit. I was helping other owners delegate, put systems in place and stop being involved in everything.

But my own practice depended on me. The client relationships, the advice, the training, the delivery. It all came back to me. By 2017, I was burned out. I understood the problem because I was living it.

So when I started Journefy Travels in 2018, I wanted to build it differently.

I built a team and gave people clear responsibilities. They ran the business while I travelled to meet suppliers and learn destinations. We grew to offices in three cities. Silicon India named Journefy one of the Top 20 Prominent Travel Booking Providers of 2018. I was proud of what we were building.

For me, the real difference was seeing the team handle things without waiting for me. That was what I had wanted to build.

BUSINESS OWNERSHIP

Then the pandemic brought travel to a stop.

In 2020, the travel industry came to a standstill. After all the work of building the business, growing the team and opening offices, I was suddenly facing something I had never planned for.

It was painful. This was a business I had put years of work into. Seeing travel stop meant facing the uncertainty of what came next for something I cared deeply about. I had to find a way forward, even without knowing when travel would recover.

I started Out of Frame Media, a corporate video and content production agency. I kept working on the travel business too, through the disruption and into its recovery. It was a difficult chapter, and it changed how I thought about resilience and running a business.

By 2022, both businesses were back on track. Travel was recovering, the video production business had found its footing, and things were moving in the right direction again. After all that uncertainty, it felt good to see the work paying off.

Then I decided to take another big plunge. I moved to Canada.

I was choosing to leave behind the familiarity of businesses I had worked hard to build and start again from zero in a new country. It was exciting, but it also meant becoming the person figuring everything out again. New people, a different market, and relationships to build from the beginning.

In Canada, I worked across several industries, including North American luxury travel, and started an appliance installation and repair business. I brought my experience with me, but I still had to earn trust, understand customers and find my place. I was building again.

THE ACQUISITION SEARCH

Looking for an acquisition changed the questions.

In 2024, I started looking for a business to buy in Canada. I went through hundreds of listings and did early due diligence on several opportunities.

The asking price was visible. The reasoning behind it was often much harder to understand.

I kept asking: what am I actually buying? How reliable are these earnings? What happens when the owner leaves? Do the customers stay? Who knows how everything works?

I had spent years working on these issues with owners. Now I was looking at them as a buyer. A business had to make sense beyond its asking price. I needed to understand what would still be there after the handover.

WHY I BUILT NEXVENTURE

That connection became Nexventure.

That is where Nexventure started. At first, I was building a valuation calculator. But the more I worked on it, the clearer it became that the number alone was not enough.

An owner needs to understand what supports that number, what a buyer will question and what to work on first. I wanted to make that easier to see, early enough to do something about it.

Nexventure brings together my work as a business coach and consultant, the lessons from building four businesses, and what I learned searching for an acquisition. It gives owners a structured way to look at their business and have better conversations with their advisors.

COMMUNITY & LEADERSHIP

Helping business owners learn from one another.

Alongside my consulting practice, I served as the founding president of my BNI chapter in Rajkot and as a training director consultant for the Rajkot region.

I trained new and existing members in presentation skills, referral skills and one-to-one meetings through the member success program.

I enjoyed seeing owners learn from one another, get better at explaining their businesses and build relationships that led to real opportunities. Teaching has always been a part of how I work.
